Providing Perfectly Aligned Smiles
Orthodontic treatment is used to correct teeth and jaws that have grown in positioned improperly. If your teeth are not positioned properly, they can be harder to keep clean, which can lead to tooth decay or periodontal disease, or they can cause extra stress on your muscles when chewing, causing headaches or neck and shoulder pain. Orthodontic treatment can result in a healthier mouth, a more aesthetically pleasing smile, and a longer lifespan for your teeth.
Our team members at Belvedere Orthodontics are experts in orthodontic treatment, and we offer many different appliances, both fixed and removable, to help perfect your smile. These appliances place gentle pressure on your teeth and jaws to move them into the proper position over a period of time. Our team will determine which appliance is best suited for each individual patient based on your first orthodontic consultation.
Invisalign aligners are used to straighten crooked or crowded teeth, as well as close gaps and adjust overbites. The treatment involves wearing clear, plastic trays that are custom-designed for your mouth, making Invisalign a less-noticeable alternative to metal braces.
Permanent retainers can be placed behind your teeth for discretion, to ensure that your teeth stay in place after braces have been removed. There are also clear, removable retainers meant to wear at night so that your teeth do not move in the years after your orthodontic treatment is complete and the bone has not been set yet.
Metal braces are the most common orthodontic solution, made of high-quality stainless steel bonded to the front of each tooth and connected by wires. Ceramic braces have clear brackets and move teeth just as well as metal, they are just more discrete and slightly more fragile.
Interceptive orthodontics are implemented early on to reduce the amount of orthodontic work your child will need as they grow into their teenage years. Phase I should begin around age 7 to aid in jaw development so that the upper and lower jaws grow together in proper alignment. Tooth position, crooked or gapped teeth, is treated in phase II.
